HR = Hindering Recruitment

3W Consulting Contracting & Recruitment recently carried out a survey of 50 line managers from major corporate and government organizations across Australia.....

3W Consulting Contracting & Recruitment recently carried out a survey of 50 line managers from major corporate and government organizations across Australia. The survey purpose was to gather information on IT positions that they were having trouble finding qualified candidates for. Some of the results were quite startling.

An amazing 84% of respondents believed that they had lost at least one good candidate, in the last 12 months, due to inefficiencies in their organizations HR process. Of these 65% indicated the slowness of their HR processes as the reason why candidates had ultimately accepted roles with other companies.

Additionally the survey showed that of the 50 Managers surveyed, 66% believed their current panel arrangements were not delivering them the candidates they were looking for.

Bruce Mills, Joint CEO for Recruitment Company 3W said “I am sure these results are of no surprise to other recruiters, as this is a problem we deal with every day. However, it should be a wakeup call to many major companies currently blaming the skill shortage for not being able to fill open positions.”

Mr. Mills added “while 5 years ago taking weeks to make offers and limiting your resource pool with panels arrangements may have been viable, the increasing demand for IT Skills combined with the expectation for Gen-Y for everything to happen NOW, organizations with long winded HR processes are at a distinct disadvantage in the recruitment race.”
